I don't think I've ever had a normal pet

but Zebbie (he's been mentioned in other postings) just takes the cake .....

This week he jumped onto girlchild's lap, got up in her face and said:  WOOF
Then he jumped off and went on about his business ......

He's been the source of much laughter and joy ... then two nights ago he disappeared.

Girlchild was babysitting and came in late Friday night to gather some stuff to take to a friends house to stay the night (I was already in bed).  I believe he snuck out then.

I looked for him Saturday -- nothing.

This morning at 6:30 I wake up to the sounds of MEOW MEOW MEOW ... and clawing.  It sounded like it was coming from my bedroom window, which didn't surprise me.  The first time he got out he flung himself into the front door, climbed up until he reached the glass to look in .. and repeated the process until I let him back in.

I got up, went to the door to call him (it was too dark to see outside my window if he was actually there or not).   No, Zebbie.  I go back to bed for a minute while the coffee is brewing and hear him again - this time it sounds like he is attempting to enter the bathroom from the outside of the house.   I get up, go to the front door .... No Zebbie.

I go through the morning motions of letting the dog out, feeding her, finishing up my coffee and keep hearing Zeb meow outside.

Finally it is light enough I can walk outside and look.

As I walk around the house I can hear him meowing but it sounds like it is coming from every direction BUT where I am.  I go back inside.  I keep thinking he will follow his routine and FLING himself into the front door, like the spazcat he is.

I am inside (still no coffee at this point, thankyouverymuch) and hear him meow again.

I go outside - AGAIN.  Finally he sounds close ... I turn around and look down and see a NOSE.  He is UNDER the house.  WHY he didn't/couldn't come out the same way he went UNDER and come to me I do not know.  I had to lift a small little piece of the skirting stuff around the house and he slithered out, dashed in the house and ran down the hall looking at me as if saying "time to eat?"

Now  -- coffee for me please??
