Like Jesus

Easter weekend brings to many of our minds, thoughts.  Thoughts of what was 'back then', what is today and the path in between.

The thoughts can vary based on the focus, I suppose. One year the mind may go to The Cross.  Be it the walk there or Jesus telling his "cross-mate" he would soon be sitting beside God.  When I think of the cross I not only think of Jesus' sacrifice but also, of Mary's pain.  One of the scenes that stands out to me in the movie, The Passion of the Christ, is of Jesus' walk to the cross, with Mary having flashbacks of Jesus, her child, growing up.  I guess it stands out to me most because I am a mother?  I don't know .... I just know those scenes stayed in my mind.

This year my mind is going to Judas.  Wow, what a betrayal.  Betrayal really IS as old as time, huh?  Human nature sure didn't change with Jesus' sacrifice.  People still are driven to betray.  Be it friends, themselves, whatever ... betrayal exists.

Jesus' death and resurrection certainly wasn't about erasing the drive to sin or sinning itself per say ..... it was about belief, forgiveness and LOVE.  If you really stop and think about all that The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost FORGAVE it is quite astounding.  Yet, many of us, mere humans, can't forgive much, much smaller betrayals ......

Let this Easter remind us --- forgive, be forgiven.  Remember The Cross.
